Drugs is a dirty business

Everytime I look at this picture, I think of Godfather. Doesn't she look like she's about ready to deliver Brando's lines?

Halloween Fun for Little Pea

Piper enjoyed her first holiday (and her dad's favorite one at that.) Adam pulled out his costume from a couple years ago and I found my costume from a couple decades ago. We introduced Pip to the Nelson's annual Halloween bash and she loved it! Boy she'll love the Cinco de Mayo one even more!! On Saturday night, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's place for the traditional doughnuts and cider. Yum!!

No Crib Big Enough for Her

We really need to set up the video camera in Piper's room. She is quite the active sleeper. I'm convinced that as soon as she can walk she'll be sleep-walking at night. Most of the time she ends up in this position by the time morning comes. The other night she even did a total 180! Crazy, Pip.

More Fall Bene's

I just love the big windows in our new apartment. It gives us a great view of the fall colors. Here is the view from our living room:

I Swear . . . by the moon and the stars and the sky . . .

Anyone remember that song? Ode to boy bands (the cool ones)! Last week, Adam took the oath and was officially made an attorney in the state of Oregon. Just another ceremony to sit through . . . Although this one was pretty short, just under an hour. The Justices of the Oregon Supreme Court were present, including Justice Gillette who taught Adam's Administrative Law class. He's the one that looks like Colonal Sanders in the picture below (sitting down, off to the right). Adam said that he was a great guy.

Justice Muniz didn't do a very good job when he had the oath-takers repeat the oath. In the beginning he said too long of a phrase, so it just sounded like a jumbled murmer when the group tried repeating it. Funny to hear, though!

Surprisingly, Piper was great. She just chilled. I tell ya, she's great in public! Now if we can just work on her at-home manners!

All in all it was a great day. Way to go, Adam! You fooled them! Thanks, dad for sitting through it with me. You looked so dapper!

Playing a Little Ketchup

We're back on board! With moving, taking a little road trip, and being without Internet for a couple of weeks, we've lagged on our updates. Rest assured, the Thayne Gang is alive and kicking. I don't have any pictures of our apartment to post, we're still trying to clear the explosion of our packings. We love our new place except for the occasional stinky days. Apparently there is a pig farm nearby and when they clean the sty, it wafts a not-so-nice odor over our way. So, I confess I'm at my old tricks. Just can't get away from dumpster diving. One night when we were unpacking, I went down to the dumpster to recycle some boxes, when I noticed a perfectly good two-drawer filing cabinet. No way, I thought. We've needed a filing cabinet but couldn't justify spending a couple hundred dollars. Here one was looking at me, saying, "I'm yours." Feeling embarrassed to carry it back to our apartment I had Adam go back down to get it. Coolest dumpster diving find ever!
After much reluctance to be in the car with Piper for 12 hours, I decided to accompany my mom on a road trip to visit my sister. She was great! Aside from a few nasty blow-outs, the ride was uneventful. The first night in town, we got to see my cousin and her family. Luke is getting big (and cute)!!

We decided to take a picture of all the kids. Piper looks so tiny next to the boys! (Zander, that's a very serious face you have.)

I decided Piper needed some warm clothes for the trip. I found this cute outfit that had matching ear warmers--couldn't resist!
